Health Plans
Upon enrollment in the EUHSD Benefits Plan, employees are assigned a payment schedule for all deductions. Each schedule is a 10-month payment plan; however, coverage is continuous for the entire 12 months. Deductions for premium occur at the end of each month (when payroll runs) according to the following classifications:
- Certificated: August – May, no deductions for June and July
- Certificated Adult Ed: October – July, no deductions for August and September
- Classified: August – May, no deductions for June and July
- Management: August – May, no deductions for June and July
Payroll deductions for premium payment are taken pre-tax. Meaning, the employee’s share of the health insurance premium is deducted from gross wages before taxes (i.e., Social Security/Medicare, Federal, and State taxes) are withheld, thus reducing the employee’s tax liability. New benefits-eligible employees who would like to opt out of the pre-tax deduction, must do so with the Benefits Department when enrolling for health insurance coverage or during Open Enrollment (following plan year effective).
Employee rates and contributions subject to change each January upon CSEA/ESTA negotiations.
