EUHSD Stands Against Hate

EUHSD Stands Against Hate

Important Message from Steve Boyle, Superintendent
Resources for Information & Support

This weekend’s shooting at the Chabad of Poway once again has shaken our sense of security and our hearts are with all affected by this senseless tragedy. As a school district and community we remain united in our stand against hate in any form.

I know situations such as this, along with the recent arson at an Escondido mosque, heightens our concern for the safety of our children and families. I want to remind you each campus has an integral safety plan reviewed regularly with school personnel and the police department. Recent tragedies can make it hard to remember that, statistically, schools remain among the safest places for young people.

All of us – students, parents and school employees – have an important role to play in helping our community heal and in keeping our campuses safe. Resources to support our students coping with violence and fears are available on the website and have been shared with staff. Please encourage your student to speak with a counselor or others who are ready to assist students with extra support this week.

At Escondido Union High School District, we are invested in the well-being of each member of our community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about how we are addressing school safety and social-emotional supports for our students. Again, you are encouraged to remind your students …if they see something, say something. Thank you.
