Olga West Joins EUHSD Leadership Team as Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources

June 21, 2016 (Escondido) Dr. Olga West’s leadership style is one that concentrates on building upon the strengths of others and working collaboratively towards a common goal. Her strong commitment to providing an equitable and high quality education for all students, coupled with her 30 years of teaching and administrative experiences helped make her an outstanding candidate for the position of Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources with the Escondido Union High School District. Dr. West will begin her position on July 18, 2016, following the promotion of Dr. Anne Staffieri to Superintendent of Ramona Unified School District.

Previously, Dr. West has worked as the Director II of Human Resources and Professional Development in the Lemon Grove School District, a position she has held since 2012. Beginning her educational career as a teacher in the Grossmont Union High School District, Olga has also served in the capacity of Principal and Lead Principal in the Chula Vista Elementary School District.  Fluent in Spanish, Olga has been directly involved with a variety of programs to support K-12 students including Title I schools, special education, dual immersion programs, and gifted and talented education programs.

Olga West hold a BS in Education from Montana State University, a MA in Education with an emphasis on Educational Technology from San Diego State, and an Ed. D. in Educational Leadership from UCSD/San Diego State/Cal State San Marcos.  Her dissertation focused on supports for ethnically diverse teacher leaders.  As an avid community volunteer, Olga has been active with Kiwanis, Soroptomists, and the PTA council.
