Escondido Union High School District To Host Summer Meals At No Cost For Youth 18 And Under

“Providing nutritious food for our students and families this year has been especially important and we want to continue to do that through the summer months when students are not on campus,” said Alicia Pitrone, Director of Student Nutrition for the district. “In the 2020-2021 school year we saw a 136% increase in the number of meals we’ve provided to students in our community, underscoring the need and importance for nutritious food for youth during this unprecedented time.”

“Ofrecerles alimentos nutritivos a nuestros estudiantes y familias durante este año ha sido particularmente importante y queremos seguir haciéndolo cuando los estudiantes no están en la escuela durante los meses de verano”, menciona Alicia Pitrone, directora del departamento de Nutrición Estudiantil del distrito. “Durante el ciclo escolar 2020-2021 vimos un aumento del 136% en el número de alimentos que se distribuyeron a los estudiantes de nuestra comunidad. Esto demuestra la necesidad e importancia de los alimentos nutritivos para los jóvenes durante estos tiempos sin precedentes”.
