Menus

Meals, foods and beverages sold or served at schools meet state and federal requirements based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines. All meals, foods and beverages are prepared and served by qualified child nutrition professionals. We provide students with access to a variety of affordable and appealing foods that meet the health and nutrition needs of students.

Any students in need of a special diet due to disability or intolerance must first have a Medical Statement Request for Special Diet Form filled out by a licensed Medical Doctor, Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant. These forms are then reviewed by our Nutrition Team to move forward on special diet requests. Unfortunately Nutrition Services does not accommodate diet requests based on personal preferences or lifestyle choices but we are more than welcome to work closely with any parent or student who needs assistance navigating through daily menu options.  The Medical Statement Request Form can be found in the link at the bottom of the page.

Harvest of the Month

Harvest of the Month:

Each month, a new seasonal, locally grown fruit or vegetable is served to the students. We work to purchase as much local, regional and California grown food as possible using the following definitions:
  • San Diego Local: Grown or raised within San Diego County
  • Regionally Grown: Grown or raised within 250 miles of San Diego County and is within the state of California
  • California Grown: Grown or raised within the state of California

Harvest of the Month highlights different California grown products each month. This cultivates a healthy food and farm connection by increasing students’ exposure to seasonal foods while also supporting local farmers.

Typical products we purchase during the year include;

August- Black Splendor Plums, Nectarines, Peaches, Strawberries

September – Black Splendor Plums, Nectarines, Peaches, Strawberries, Dragon Fruit

October – Grapes, Pluots, Pears

November – Persimmons, Plums, Asian Pears
